Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza sativa or Oryza glaberrima. It is the agricultural commodity with the third-highest worldwide production, after sugarcane and maize. As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world’s human population, especially in Asia.

Problems faced when growing rice.

 

1. Bacteria Leaf Blight

2. Grasshoppers

important pest of rice. It causes heavy damage to crops and reduces yield. Adults are about the size of your little finger. The body is a shiny greenish yellow colour with three black lines on its upper side.

3. Leafhopper

Green leafhoppers are common in rainfed and irrigated wetland environments. They prefer to feed on the lateral leaves rather than the leaf sheaths and the middle leaves.
